Concert: The Fratellis

Last week The Fratellis played at my favorite venue: The Wonder Ballroom. It was the first time they had every played in Portland. They were supposed to a few years ago as openers for the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, but had to cancel. I actually saw the lead singer (Jon) open for Metric a while back in his side project called Codeine Velvet Club.

Anyway, the show was fantastic. I got there two hours before doors opened, and was first in line and at the front of the stage (no barricade at the Wonder usually). The first band were called Conway and were pretty good. The second band were called The Ceremonies and were three young brothers (plus others). Lots of harmonies and a sort of updated classic rock sound.

Then The Fratellis came out and played a nice long set. They played their entire new album (which is fantastic), and all the old favorites.

I took a few pictures at the beginning, but I hate having my phone out and not fully enjoying the show.

It was a great show!
